EU-RISE

Once you have launched something into space, it isn’t easy to reach it again. If space technology could be assembled, repaired, and maintained in orbit, then space travel would be a lot more sustainable than it is now.  Soon, robotic space crafts should make it possible to carry out technical work on satellites directly in space. In-space manufacturing and assembly (ISAM) opens up completely new opportunities and business areas in space travel. The EU-RISE project includes a market analysis of future space services and the development of an end-to-end demo scenario aimed at bringing building blocks and robotic elements manufactured in Europe in recent years to market maturity and providing an open-source method for further development. Thus, the project contributes to the development of European ISAM capabilities and the definition of standards for future space ecosystems in which Europe intends to play a significant role.
